Aligning Innovation with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals for a Better Planet by George Greer

I had the incredible opportunity of being invited to the United Nations in Vienna this summer. This experience was not just a personal milestone, but an opportunity for reflection on how Project Harmless aligns our approach with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As a purpose-driven startup dedicated to creating innovative solutions to tackle the climate crisis, we recognise that our mission goes hand-in-hand with the global efforts to build a more sustainable future.

SDG 8: Promote Sustained, Inclusive, and Sustainable Economic Growth

Project Harmless is an accredited Living Wage Employer, we ensure that every member of our team is fairly compensated for their hard work. We are also an organisational member of Dyslexia Scotland, advocating for inclusivity in the workplace.

SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production

In a world where greenwashing is rampant, Project Harmless stands out for our authentic commitment to sustainability by putting purpose before profit. All fashion items are designed and fully handmade in Scotland, and are 100% plastic free.

SDG 13: Take Urgent Action to Combat Climate Change

Climate action is the very reason Project Harmless was founded. Our products are designed to address pollution and reduce environmental impact, and we are relentless in our pursuit of innovative solutions that will make a lasting impact on the planet.

SDG 14: Life below Water

Protecting our oceans is a key priority at Project Harmless. Our Harmless Poop Bag is engineered to disintegrate quickly and harmlessly, ensuring that marine life is shielded from the hazards of plastic. All of our fashion items are completely plastic-free, containing neither polyester nor any other harmful materials.

SDG 15: Life on Land

Our Harmless Poop Bag, made from innovative medical-grade material, is designed to be safe for both wildlife and the environment. By prioritising sustainability and wildlife conservation, we actively contribute to the protection and preservation of vital ecosystems.

As we continue to innovate and push the boundaries of what is possible, our commitment to these goals remains steadfast. But we cannot do it alone. The journey toward a sustainable future requires collective action. We invite you to join us in this mission. Together, we can drive meaningful change.
