Project Harmless at a Glance
Founded in Edinburgh in 2021, Project Harmless is a sustainability brand built to challenge greenwashing, disrupt outdated industry norms, and set a measurable new benchmark for what true sustainability looks like in practice.
The brand launched with the Harmless Poop Bag — a water-soluble, medical-grade alternative to conventional plastic dog waste bags. Covered by BBC News, STV News, The Times, and Virgin StartUp, it sparked a wider conversation about eco-fraud in the pet care industry and the gap between green marketing and genuine environmental impact.
In 2024, Project Harmless entered fashion with Harmless Atelier — a collection of handcrafted, plastic-free accessories made from rare, revitalised Scottish fabrics. The global fashion industry generates an estimated 92 million tonnes of textile waste each year; Harmless Atelier is a direct response, offering considered quality for consumers who will no longer accept compromise.
In 2025, the brand expanded into skincare with Harmless Apothecary — a slow beauty range formulated without palm oil, EDTA, or synthetic additives. Each soap is cured for up to 48 days and enriched with naturally soft waters from Argyll and Bute, Scotland.
Project Harmless has been recognised as a Sustainability Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards in both 2023 and 2024, and was appointed British Business Bank Ambassador for Scotland in 2025. It is more than a brand — it is a direct challenge to the status quo.
